Why We Deny Our Power
If we want to do anything in life, we need power. Whether it is in terms of physics or in terms of our personal achievements, the equation is quite practical. It all boils down to work done over time. But with our random bouts of fatigue, lack of motivation and self-sabotage, things tend not to get done.
Besides our less than stellar relationship with ourselves, we also have a poor relationship with power. It manifests itself in a few ways.
For starters, people hate those who have power because these people use their power to abuse others. Another way our relationship with power shows itself is how much we’ve denied our own power, which also causes us to hate people who have it (because we envy them) or causes us to worship them.
After all, when a popular artist performs a concert and people go absolutely insane, it illustrates that while one may adore their work, the artist is still a human being just like everyone else on the planet. They used their power and captivated thousands or even millions. If you did the same, they wouldn’t seem larger than life anymore.
But this same example can illustrate how power can corrupt. When the artist is given such adoration from people who have denied their own power, they are put on a pedestal which implies that they are not just above others, but are more valuable than others.
