The Hurdles on the Path of Enlightenment
The spiritual seeker’s goal is to increase their frequency, or in other words, they want to improve how they feel on a day-to-day, moment-to-moment basis. Most seekers lament how uncomfortable they feel and want to improve their state of being. It’s a pretty natural desire that most people have.
To be honest, being spiritual is just one of the several ways people seek to improve their lives and how they feel. Some seek professional success, others aim for financial riches and there are those who go for altruistic aspirations. These are just a few ways people try to make themselves feel better.
The spiritual person realizes that they have to address the emotions within that are holding them down in the first place. And if they can transcend these lower frequencies, these heavier and painful emotions, then they might become enlightened.
However, there is an issue when it comes to one’s understanding of what enlightenment is. For some, it is to experience pure bliss all day, every day. To others, it is the loss of a personal identity and the loss of seeing the world through the perspective of self and other. I am partial to the latter explanation, but the former highlights one of the first hurdles of enlightenment.
