Life Cannot be Different if You’re the Same Person

It’s quite interesting to hear the advice others have for you. They seem so certain about what they’re saying that it’s almost offensive. How can they be so sure they know a better way when they’ve never spend one day in your shoes?

But here’s the uncomfortable irony: you’ve probably done the same.

Haven’t you heard the problem a friend, family member or colleague is going through, then readily came to a solution? The reason for that is two-fold, with one solution being pretty simple but the other one a bit more complicated.

The first reason is that they aren’t you and are therefore completely detached. They can come up with solutions for days because the issue doesn’t affect them in the same way it affects you.

The second reason is that they aren’t you and have no idea about what’s going on in your psyche, whether it’s in your conscious mind or your unconscious mind. But if they did, they would have to either change their answer or add a bunch of conditions to it.

When one is becoming an adult, there is an interest in knowing oneself. After all, that’s how you’re going to know who to date, what to do for a career, where you want to live and who your friends are.
