Hate Cheaters? Here’s Why You Should Rethink That.

While I was watching the 1969 film Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice the other day and having a laugh as each couple wrestled with honesty and their feelings for people outside of their marriage, I realized something.

It’s something that isn’t really addressed because people accept it like it’s the most logical thing in the world, when it has caused so much carnage in romantic relationships.

But let me start by saying this: if two people embark on a relationship and one of the agreed upon rules of the relationship is not sleeping with other people, then for the sake of the relationship, both people should follow that agreement.

If you fail to do so, your integrity is up for question. Your words and your actions do not line up. It would naturally lead one to wonder if there are any other lies they should know about. It puts the relationship in jeopardy.

With that being said, here’s what I realized: why do we lose our heads so much when it comes to people cheating?

In Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (spoilers ahead), Bob admits to Carol that he slept with another woman and that it wasn’t out of love, just lust. After some initial resistance, Carol appreciates that Bob was honest with him.
