3 Cynical Ways People Approach Relationships
#2: People don’t like you. They like what you can do for them.
People don’t plan to fail, they simply fail to examine their unconscious biases before they start something. And then they fail. It’s what we call a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Because so many of us didn’t have the best examples of a loving relationship (and possibly still don’t), it’s an uphill battle to find the person that it’ll work with. But by some miracle, you might. The problem is not recognizing it because you have an idea of sexual relationships that doesn’t benefit you.
Also, there’s two sides of you at play. One side is skeptical about this whole love thing. The other side is hopeful because it acknowledges the possibility of something better. It’s like that Native American wolf story; which wolf are you going to feed? Which side of you are you choosing to focus on?
I guess it’s pretty obvious which side you’d need to focus on, but for those who focus on the cynical side, here are three typical ways they think of relationships which inevitably lead to the demise of the relationship.
